A Day at the Funeral
I am dedicating today's post to the late ASP Henry; all my love to Auntie Catherine and the kids.
Along with my mom and sisters, we drove up to Tebakang Serian to attend a funeral. I received the bad news around noon yesterday right after I've updated the blog. The deceased is a close family friend and he was our neighbour for couple of years when we used to live in Sri Aman.
Tentatively, we should have departed at 7am from home but since my sisters were soaking too long in the bath; so we left the house around 7.40am.
Stopped by Kota Sentosa for a quick breakfast (we all had Kolok Mee). By 8.45am, we continued our journey to Tebakang. I almost forgot that today is the 1st day of Aidilfitri and was wondering sooooo hard ;like; how is it every radio station aired the same "HARI RAYA" songs back to back. Only then I realised, it is the 1st day of Raya..haha..silly...So we sang along with RAYA Songs played by each station one after another. So.....by the 15th songs,we finally reached the destination.I almost missed the junction to the village by the way.
We were late for the house visit since the cortege has left for the Kampung Church. After the prayer in church, we joined the rest to the cemetery. It was indeed sad to see sad faces. We are quite closed with the family and I surely can relate to them as I've gone through this stage almost 5 years ago when I lost my dad. It felt like a rewind episode....the sadness...the tears...It is too much to digest all at once. I tried to cry but I know I couldn't. I just couldn't, I don't know why...somehow, my eyeballs failed to register my feelings.NUMBed...
After the funeral, we dropped by the house. Talked to them, consoled them and listened to them. The sad thing about the deceased, he was only found dead a day later while the rest of the family members were away in Kuching. I felt sorry for him and the family, because they didn't get the chance to be around him during his final hour.
He was a dedicated Police Officer and had sacrificed his space and time away from his family due to the call of duty. Aunt Catherine was in Kuching with the kids. I pray that He will Rest In Peace and on his way to the Kingdom of God Almighty.
Uncle Henry, May Your Soul be in Heaven. God bless.
