Kuta Beach & Uluwatu Sunset Tour Day 1

9am- 2.30pm

So, I woke up around 7am and had a heavy breakfast at the hotel's restaurant the "Padi-Padi".It is very nice. We were amazed by the presentation of the cuisine and have to admit that we booked the room for less than 45 USD (2 pax)...it is as good as a 5 Stars hotel. After that, we went out and walked all the way to Kuta Beach. Can you believe that?!! I couldn't believe that I would walk around as I could never stand the heat...however....

...the weather was great( cloudy a bit and occasionally bright) and it wasn't that humid at all. Sat by the beach and rented a spot for that Indonesian Rupiah 30,000.00 (kinda weird that you have to pay for a place on a public beach..but any way...the lady who sold us the coconut drinks (Indonesian Rupiah 20,000.00) was very nice.

At Kuta Walk (the mall)

We had lunch at a Mall (very Urban and Hip-Looking Mall....Kuta Walk??!) and went to Starbucks before heading back to our hotel. Called up a taxi as it was too hot to walk back to the hotel and I had a great nap while my cousin was cracking mad watching a surfer's show on Nat Geo Channel. So later at 4.30pm, we will head up to Uluwatu for the Sunset Tour and Kecak Dance Performance.

4.30pm-8.30pm

We headed up to Uluwatu sharp at 4.30pm. Our driver, Bapak Yoman came precisely 5 mins before the schedule. The traffic was mad as majority of Balinese were heading home from work around that time. Despite the fact that the traffic seemed impossible to beat, we did not experience any slow moving traffic. I would have to salute Balinese drivers (motorbikers alike) for their wonderful driving technique.

In Malaysia, it would normally set you back around 20 mins for a short distance of say...5 kilometres?
We stopped by Uluwatu beach and took some photos from the bridge. It is pretty amazing to see the secluded (or not so secluded) beaches in Bali. Well, they are of course crowded with tourists. The road leading to Uluwatu is very narrow ,yet Balinese drivers immaculately showed me that you can actually squeeze the car if you believe it could be done!haha.. My favourite spot for today would have to be the Uluwatu beach as it is situated next to a cliff. You would have to go down through small alleys and passed by cafes and surfers' shops. The narrow winding staircase is very interesting as it is totally something new for me. I managed to go down to the beach while my cousin decided to stay at one of the shops as she is a little bit giddy due to the steep staircase leading to the beach. You would have to walk through narrow staircase (without any railing by the side) in order for you to go down to the water. The beach is very clean and the water is crystal clear.

Next up, we went to a park-like place where there are monkeys and temple in Uluwatu. In Indonesian language, Uluwatu means the Beginning of time...It is located exactly on cliff. Entrance fee is Indonesian Rupiah 20,000.00 per person and if you're wearing a short pants... you would have to wear a purple sarong to cover your legs. But if you're wearing long pants, a yellow coloured band is to be tied around your waist (F.O.C). Took lotsa pictures and enjoying the sunset. For the Kecak Dance (Fire Dance), you would have to pay another Indonesian Rupiah 7,000.00. There were so many people and we were seated right in front of everyone else (on the floor).  Really enjoyed the shows because we were so closed to the performers. Since it is my first time, I really enjoyed it.

The show was about an hour so around 7.05pm, we travelled up to Jimbaran for dinner. Jimbaran is located not far from Denpasar Ngurah Rai International Airport and it is in between Kuta and Uluwatu. The restaurants are located by the beach and we practically had a candlelight dinner. A few setback though.... Firstly, the table and chairs are put on a slopped beach; I almost fell off my chair as I dine. Second, the place is no doubt nice but it is overrated (well kinda...) The menu was terrible and quite limited choices available. It would be a big lie if i confess that I like the menu. Third point, it is quite pricey. If I were to come again to Bali, Jimbaran would not be one of my to do list anymore. Sorry but that is the truth. After dinner, we headed back to the hotel. I really like the location of the Park Regis Hotel because it is very strategic and you can actually walk all the way to Kuta beach along the Legian streets.
